Overcoming Partnership Visa Confusion

Moving to New Zealand from the UK with his Kiwi wife presented Edward with a significant challenge: navigating the complex visa process.

The webinar was superb and left me with no doubt about my choice; it was NZIL all the way.

Moving to New Zealand from the UK with his Kiwi wife presented Edward* with a significant challenge: navigating the complex visa process. After initial attempts to understand the requirements through online searches left him unsure, he realised he needed legal guidance. Edward shares his story below, detailing how NZIL provided the professional support he needed to apply for his Partnership Visa for New Zealand.

“I knew I needed a visa to move to New Zealand with my Kiwi wife, but had no idea what visa or how to start the process. So, Google to the rescue.

With a decent amount of reading, I read that I need a Partner Visa, so I investigated further on the big G. I found the Immigration NZ website and read that I should fill out the form and quickly realised I'm out of my depth. Terminology I don't fully understand, and a fear that I'll get it wrong and spend over $5000 and have no idea if I've completed it correctly.

With this preying on my mind, I decide I need professional help to make sure the application is right the first time.

Back to Google, and I think I need a New Zealand solicitor as they'll know the immigration service requirements intimately. After a few emails asking for prices and the type of service, I get replies from $6000 plus the immigration fee of $5360, to $400. Finally, I found NZIL and Aaron Martin, who offered a free webinar about the visa I wanted to apply for.

The webinar was superb and left me with no doubt about my choice; it was NZIL all the way.

I emailed, and Aaron replied, suggesting we have a free 15-minute phone conversation. At my time of 05.45 in the morning, we chatted, and I was committed to getting their help and told Aaron that I was delighted I got up early.

I was given immediate help by a true professional in Winnie Wang. She corrected some mistakes I'd made and helped me collate my supporting evidence. Finally, my visa application was sent off only three weeks after we started. I feel very confident, as do Winnie and Aaron, about my application.

A huge thank you to them both and all the team at NZIL.”
